Megan K. Shea, LCMHC, LCAS

Megan K. Shea (she/her) is a licensed clinical mental health counselor and a licensed clinical addictions specialist in North Carolina. She completed graduate work in counseling at Appalachian State University, focusing on relational and family counseling, and addictions counseling. While at App State, Megan completed her graduate field experience in crisis counseling, community mental health, and outdoor behavioral healthcare. Since gaining her clinical licensure, Megan has worked to support clients and their families in a variety of settings including at a therapeutic boarding school, a residential treatment program, and at an outpatient group practice. Megan uses an holistic clinical approach and attachment-based, emotion-focused, and trauma-informed lens while working with clients and patients.
All of her professional life has centered around working with individuals, groups, and families as they embark on their own journeys of growth, change, and healing. Prior to her career shift into counseling, Megan was a licensed educator and taught English Language Arts and writing in both the secondary and collegiate levels.
Originally from the northeast, Megan has lived in Western North Carolina for nearly a decade. When not at work, Megan can be found trail running or hiking, practicing yoga, or relaxing with a book in her porch swing. She values spending time outdoors with family and loved ones.
