My Story

In September 2022, a dirt biking trip with a friend turned into a five-day stay in the trauma unit of my local hospital.  A piece of broken collarbone pierced my lung, causing it to collapse.  A call to a friend in the healthcare business resulted in a home visit and a newly-found friendship with an accomplished trauma physician who reviewed my chest x-ray and sent me immediately to the Emergency Department.  Within moments of arriving at the hospital, I was surrounded by doctors and wound up with a tube in my chest and my room on the trauma floor.

During my stay, I met many incredible healthcare providers. I confirmed a belief that had been forming for many years--that our nation's hospitals and intensive care units do an incredible job at saving lives, but out of necessity, place the socio-emotional needs of their patients on the back burner.  Walking the hallways during my recovery brought me face-to-face with many discouraged patients and mourning family members.

Born from this and other life experiences, Healing Hearts seeks to fill the missing piece in our nation's healthcare systems by bridging the gap of emotional healthcare.

Healing Hearts Values

Integrity is consistently doing the right thing–no matter the difficulty.  We walk our talk and seek to live-in to our values by confirming that our thoughts, intentions words and actions consistently align with our values.

Family First

Family does not just include our biological kin.  Family are those who remain by our side through the best of times and the worst of times.  No greater healing can take place than that which involves Family.

Equity varies from equality in that while equality provides everyone with the same, Equity acknowledges that we do not all start from the same place and seeks to provide personalized service to each individual that will help them succeed.

We seek to first to understand and are compelled to enter into one’s sorrow and sit in it with them, as we lovingly seek to co-create new meaning for their suffering.

Resilience is the ability to effectively adapt and Heal through moments of adversity.  As we develop Resilience we can bounce back from unexpected challenges and emerge with even greater strength, compassion and wisdom than before.

Hope for Healing

Hope for Healing - We acknowledge that there is Hope for Healing in all things.  We are optimistic that the future holds goodness and that we have within us all that is necessary to cope with the present and actively seek a desirable outcome.  The Best is Yet to Come!
